We believe that being a traveling health professional should be filled with inspiration, memories and unbelievable pictures! To prove it, meet some of our Inspired Travelers sharing their cross country experience.
Today we’re visiting Kimberly!
Growing Up did you travel often?
I didn’t travel a lot as a child because we had the responsibility of having a dairy farm and had responsibilities. We went to Nova Scotia almost every year to see family and growing up I was always eager to go somewhere, especially with my Dad.
Why did you decide that this was the time to travel?
I love adventure and I’m not bashful, so naturally I wanted to travel for my work.
How has it changed your perspective on life?
My perspective on life has changed more for the positive because I have more opportunities in all areas of my life. I see the glass half full. Problems in life are good because they humble us and show that we are not the master mind.
What made you become a nurse or health professional?
I wanted to get into the health field because I love people.
Doing something in my life where I could make a difference in the lives of others was what I wanted. This is my friend Bessie who I helped get back on her feet. She went from max assist in the parallel bars to contact guard with a walker!!
The possibilities are endless for bringing joy to someone.
Who have you met so far on your journey that left a mark on your trip?
I have met many wonderful people on my journey but a few people stand out in my mind. I worked in Beverly, MA with a woman named Debbie, a Physical Therapist Assistant who took a liking to me.
I also stayed in Beverly with a man from Per who really opened my eyes to appreciate what I have.
In Plymouth I stayed with a family where I also felt at home. The woman Ruth was from Jamaica and we all got along very well. Where I live now in Lowell I live with a family from Kenya. They have an 8 year old daughter Joyce that I enjoy.
We’re committed to inspiring other traveling health professionals and would love to share your journey and travel experience to our community. We want to see where you’ve been!
